Fundraiser Held to Bring Justice to Woman Killed in Boating Accident

News

A fundraiser was held today to raise money for the fight towards justice for a woman killed in a boating accident last June.

Megan Wells, a mother of three, was killed on June 24th, 2016 when a fishing boat crashed into the pontoon boat she was riding in.

The fundraiser Saturday featured live music, raffles, and silent auctions.

They also sold wristbands, decals, and t-shirts with Megan’s picture on it to collect funds.

Her father says even though they’ll never get Megan back, it warms their heart to know they have the community behind them.

“It’s kind of a sad day but it’s also a great day because just this type of outpouring of donations and friends just helps us through the day,” said Megan’s father, David Swaziek.

The driver of that fishing boat, Marc Mongan, was allegedly driving drunk.

His trial is scheduled to begin August 21st.
