The man accused of shooting an ATF agent in the face last week has been arrested after leading Chicago police after a massive manhunt.

Ernesto Godinez, 27, was arrested Monday night and appeared in court this morning. Investigators say Godinez ambushed the agent with the Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) bureau while he was trying to replace the batteries on a court-approved tracking device on a car.

The car was part of an undercover operation tracking gun sales to a gang. Godinez and his brother, Rodrigo, are the leaders of the Almighty Saints street gang based in Chicago’s Back of the Yards neighborhood.

The agent is expected to recover. Godinez is being held without bail until a May 17th hearing.

Rodrigo Godinez was also arrested following the manhunt and is being held on drug charges unrelated to the shooting.
