After several weeks of steady declines, gas prices are back up across the stateline.

Rockford’s average increased by 5.5¢ in the past week, now at $2.07 per gallon. The national rate actually fell during that same period of time, but remains higher than Rockford, at $2.12 per gallon.

Illinois’ state-wide rate sits at $2.13 per gallon.

Prices in Rockford are actually up from the same time last year; 2015’s late November rate was $1.96 per gallon.

Experts say they expect prices to stay pretty stagnant throughout the holiday travel season. Price estimates and projections for this story came from GasBuddy.com.
