Gas prices plummet in Northern Illinois


Rockford, Ill. – Call it a Christmas miracle – gas prices are down across Northern Illinois!

According to AAA, the national average price of gas for Christmas Eve 2018 is $2.32.

The average in Illinois is $2.24 but AAA’s county-by-county breakdown show our local counties have an average below that. 

Here are the price averages across the Stateline:

  • Winnebago County: $2.19
  • Boone County: $2.12
  • Ogle County: $2.16
  • Stephenson County: $2.16
  • Carroll County: $2.16
  • Whiteside County: $2.14
  • Jo Davies County: $2.14

AAA shows prices are down on average $0.12 for a gallon of regular in the Rockford area just from last week and $0.39 from one month ago.

Missouri is the state with the lowest national average right now at $1.89. California’s average of $3.40 is the highest.
