Genoa man arrested after police found explosive in his car


DEKALB, Ill. (WTVO) — A Genoa man was arrested for possession of an explosive device inside his vehicle.

The Genoa Police Department responded to the 200 block of Railroad Avenue after receiving a report of a subject displaying a gun to another motorist on Monday, June 3rd before 6 p.m. 

Officers searched a vehicle and found an explosive device in the glove box.

Joseph Walsh, 54, was arrested and charged with Unlawful Use of Weapons. 

After the arrest, Genoa Police conducted a search warrant at Walsh’s residence at 229 E. Railroad Avenue. Explosive devices, firearms and ammunitions were recovered in the residence. 

Walsh was charged with another two counts of Unlawful Use of Weapons.

He is being held at the DeKalb County Jail.
