Health officials stopped in the Forest City Monday to urge uninsured residents to get covered or face a possible fine.
The final deadline to enroll in the Affordable Care Act’s coverage is still a few weeks away. However, consumers must sign up by this Friday to start receiving coverage on Feb. 1st. Anyone who chooses not to buy health insurance in 2016 is at risk of paying a near $700 fee.
Federal officials say with the low prices on the market right now, there’s no reason not buy in. “Almost six out of 10 in Illinois will be able to buy this high quality health insurance for about $75 or less with the tax credit” said Kathleen Falk, a representative of the U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services.
The final deadline to enroll in Jan. 31st.
