The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department is set to give special thanks to a local Girl Scout who helped get special gear for the K-9 Dogs.

Natalie Lyman and her family raised money to purchase “Buddy Bags” for the dogs, a kit bag that includes a cone-shaped oxygen mask for dogs, along with burn sheets, bandages, saline rises and protective restraints.

Natalie earned the Girl Scout Silver Award, the second highest award that a girl scout can earn by creating a project that meets a need in her community.

A special thank you event will be held for Natalie at the Macktown Forest Preserve, 2221 Freeport Road, Rockton at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15th.
