President Trump’s push for a border wall has shut down the government and inspired one man to start a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for construction. That campaign has raised millions.
That prompted one man from Arcadia, Florida to create his own GoFundMe page to help workers build a tunnel under the wall.
“It started off basically as a joke,” Rigo Torres says.
Torres created the page of Dec. 20, and so far, it has raised over $6,000.
He was scrolling through social media feeds when he came across the page supporting the wall and wanted to make a joke with his friends. He says he never imagined gaining this much attention.
“I just thought it was going to stay between friends, and you know have a few laughs and that’s it,” Torres says.
Now, he’s decided to donate the money raised to the American Civil Liberties Union.
