A fundraising effort is underway to try to raise money for a homeless man in Dixon who found a wallet and cellphone during Dixon’s Petunia Festival, and helped track down their rightful owner.
Michael Wulf, a lifelong Dixon resident, said he saw the woman leave the items behind. He tried to chase her down, but was unable to. Instead, he brought the items to the bar she was at, allowing them to track her down.
The woman, who Eyewitness News spoke to on Wednesday, expressed her gratitude towards Wulf, but another local resident wanted to do more. Jeni Robin Benham Keller set up a GoFundMe page to raise money to reward Wulf for his good deed.
“The story touched my heart and I truly believe that good karma comes back to you when you give it,” Keller wrote in a Facebook post. “There really are good people left in this world and [Michael Wulf] is one of them. This story restored my faith in humanity.”
