Family and friends of an innocent man hit by a stray bullet during a car-to-car shooting in April in Rockford have begun fundraising efforts in an attempt to cover some of the victim’s medical expenses.
On April 5, Dick Griffin and his wife were returning home from dinner when they were caught in between two vehicles exchanging gunfire near the intersection of N. Longwood and Rural Streets. A stray bullet from one of the vehicles went through the couple’s car, hitting Griffin in the head. He has been in a coma ever since.
Police are still looking for two SUVs, a blue Mazda and a maroon Nissan. No arrests have been made.
Loved ones of Griffin are hoping for help in covering expenses including the initial hospital costs, as well as future rehab costs. If you’d like to help out, click here.
