Governor Bruce Rauner (R-IL) calls out House Speaker Michael Madigan again Tuesday, after the democrat ordered the House to take a month long break.
Rauner called the move a display of “sheer negligence”, especially since the state budget is now eight months overdue. Last week, Madigan ordered House members not to return to Springfield until April 4.
“He’d rather have his caucus, the democrats in the House, go on vacation for a month while this crisis brews and our people are being hurt,” said Rauner at a press conference Tuesday morning. “Our universities are being hurt. Our students are being hurt. [This is] stunning failure on the part of Speaker Madigan and his caucus.”
Rauner also added there are two bi-partisan solutions to deal with the budget crisis that he supports. But, says they won’t even be considered because Madigan doesn’t support them.
