The Rockford Housing Authority (RHA) held a graduation ceremony on Thursday for participants in its workforce development program.
Dozens of men and women completed their employment training through RHA, where they learned workplace skills like positive behavior, responsibility, professionalism, and problem solving.
The RHA says programs like this can help get disadvantaged people back on their feet.
“For people who had given up when it comes to employment, sometimes people give up on life,” said Marcus Hill of the Workforce Development Institute. “And then, to get this encouragement, to know that they still can continue – is enjoyment. All you hear is laughter right now. That’s what it’s all about.”
Participants had to complete 72 hours of training to graduate.
