Harlem Globetrotter Shows Off Tricks in Studio Ahead of Rockford Performance

Harlem Globetrotter, Buckets Blakes stopped by the Eyewitness News studio on Tuesday.

He, along with his team, will begin a tour of North America after Christmas. The tour includes a stop in Rockford on Tuesday, December 27th. The show starts at 7 pm at the BMO Harris Bank Center. Tickets for the event start around $25.

Blakes recently made a shot from 58 stories up from the Tower of the Americas in San Antonio, TX. The basketball plunged 583 feet and 8 inches into the hoop for a new North American record. Blakes told Eyewitness News it only took him two times to achieve the feat and that the only preparation he needed once simply his confidence.

Blakes has a Rockford connection. In the early 2000’s he played basketball with the Rockford Lightning.

Blakes has been a Harlem Globetrotter for 15 seasons now and currently calls Phoenix, AZ home.
