(WTVO) — Personal information about students and teachers of the Harlem, Kinnickinnick and Rochelle school districts were exposed in a hacker attack, the school districts announced.

Officials say they became aware in mid-March that hackers had gained access to their AIMSweb testing platform in November of 2018. Many districts in Illinois were involved in the breach.

Student first names, last names, and dates of birth, as well as teachers’ names and email addresses were accessed by unknown parties, according to Pearson Clinical Assessment, who made the AIMSweb program.

Pearson says they discovered that approximately 13,000 school and university accounts were breached, and is working with law enforcement on the crime.
