Smoke from forest fires in Canada is being fed into the Stateline area by a cold front which has moved through the area according to Chief Meteorologist Candice King.

Several people have called the WTVO/WQRF-TV studios wondering what the smoky haze and smell associated with it are all about.

While not well publicized here in the U.S., it is from wildfires raging in northwest Canada which have caused serious problems for residents there.  A state of emergency has been called for parts of the Canadian province of British Columbia.  According to Canadian Global News, more than 100 fires are burning there leading to the evacuations of thousands of people.
