The new Fieldhouse at Hononegah High School, which replaces the collapsed Athletic Dome, is set to open Friday, April 5th.
The Fieldhouse has over 2,500 bleacher seats, state-of-the-art audio equipment, new floor and gym equipment, and “visual effects that demonstrate Hononegah pride.”
The Athletic Dome deflated during a winter ice storm back on December 28th, 2015.
“The loss of the dome was a challenge for our administration, staff, students and the public. We are grateful to the community for its support in allowing the construction of this much-needed addition to our campus. The field house will be a source of pride for the whole Hononegah area for generations to come,” David Kurlinkus, School Board President, said in a statement.
ESPN SportsCenter Anchor and Hononegah High alumni, Nicole Briscoe, will be present for the grand opening, which will be held at 10 a.m. on April 5th, followed by a spirit assembly, performances by the dance and cheer squads, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, and more.
