On Wednesday, toys that have been donated by area residents were sorted in the Salvation Army’s distribution center.
Everything is laid out so parents can go through the aisles with a personal shopper and pick out a toy, including everything from dolls and cars to bicycles and books.
“There are many families that, if they did not receive these gifts, would not have a Christmas for their family, unfortunately,” said Glorie Sjogien of the Salvation Army. “This helps them to give something to their children.”
1,300 families are signed up for this year’s giveaway.
Each one also was able to take home food boxes to make Christmas dinners next week.
