A timely donation to fight hunger in the Rockford arrived.
The Rockford Area CROP Hunger Walk presented a check for more than $8,000 to the Rockford Food Pantry Coalition Thursday. The check is 25% of the total funds raised from the previous walk in October and will be evenly distributed to the 10 local pantries that are a part of the Rockford Area Food Pantry Coalition. The local CROP Hunger Walk has been a consistent source of funding for the Pantry Coalition.
“I think ours is one of the largest and certainly the most regular source of income that they have in the way of actual funds, with which way to buy food stuffs from such areas as ‘Northern Illinois Food Bank,” said Rockford CROP Hunger Walk Committee Co-Chair David Jones.
The next Hunger Walk will take place October 15th.
