A baby boy is in critical condition after being ripped from from his mother’s womb, according to NBC News.
19-year-old Marlen Ochoa-Lopez was lured by three people to their home to buy clothes for her unborn baby, strangling her and then cutting the unborn child from her wound.
The family of Ochoa-Lopez released photos of the baby with his father, Yiovanni Lopez. Baby Yadiel is in critical condition, while using a breathing machine.
Clarisa Figueroa, 46, and her daughter, 24-year-old Desiree Figueroa, have been charged with the murder of Marlen Ochoa-Lopez.
Figueroa’s boyfriend, Piotr Bobak, 40, was charged charged with concealing the crime, Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said at a press conference Thursday afternoon.
Johnson said police were able to get confessions from Desiree, who admitted to helping her mother strangle Ochoa-Lopez with a cable and then cutting the unborn child from her womb.
Ochoa-Lopez’s family said they are still holding out hope for the baby’s survival, but they are prepared for the possibility of death.
