An iceberg the size of lower Manhattan broke off from a glacier in eastern Greenland. The phenomena is known as “calving” and it was caught on video.
A team of New York University scientists captured a time-lapse video of a four-mile iceberg snapping off the glacier.
Footage shows hunks of ice breaking, melting and moving across a body of frozen water.
While the exact size of the iceberg is not certain, NYU researchers say it’s roughly the size of lower Manhattan.
