SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WTVO) — The Illinois Department of Public Health issued a warning on Friday after three adolescents were hospitalized with severe pulmonary disease after vaping.

The warning comes after the Wisconsin Department of Public Health reported 11 confirmed and 7 suspected cases of the disease among adolescents.

All affected individuals reported respiratory symptoms including cough, shortness of breath, and fatigue. The symptoms worsened over a period of days or weeks before admission to the hospital, the IDPH reported.

The names and types of vaping products, and where they were obtained, is still being investigated.

The three individuals from Illinois reside in the northeastern part of the state, according to the IDPH.
