The Winnebago County Coroner has released the name of the man killed in a single-vehicle crash of a Illinois National Guard military vehicle Sunday morning on I-90 in Rockford.

He is Illinois Army National Guard Sgt. Marcos Leonardo Gudino, 30, of Elgin. Sgt. Gudino was assigned to Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 178th Infantry Regiment based in Chicago. He served as a medic since enlisting in August of 2010.

“The thoughts and prayers of the entire organization are with Sergeant Gudino’s family and friends, and the Soldiers who were closest to him,” said Maj. Gen. Richard J. Hayes, the adjutant general of the Illinois National Guard.
