Illinois police issue 441 ‘Scott’s Law’ violations between April 12th and 19th

Thirty-six counties in Illinois took part in an “Officer Safety and Scott’s Law” initiative this month, handing out 441 tickets for violations of the Move Over law.

The law says that drivers must move over into the left lane if an emergency vehicle occupies the shoulder or right lane.

Sheriff’s deputies from across the state issued 827 speeding tickets, and another 84 for seat belt violations.

The Illinois Sheriff’s Association announced the initative earlier this month, with the goal of preventing avoidable accidents.
