The Illinois State Police say they confiscated 608 lbs of cannabis, 31 lbs of cocaine, and one handgun during three day patrol of I-90 and I-80 in northern Illinois.

Twenty one State Police troopers conducted a criminal patrol on the interstates from November 12-15, assisted by two troopers from the Louisiana State Police.

Nineteen people were arrested on felony criminal charges.

“Criminals use drugs, guns, and money to fuel violence in our cities and on our roadways,” said ISP Director Leo P. Schmitz. “I’m proud of the hard working men and women of the ISP for their unyielding effort to stop these criminals in their tracks.”

67 pounds of marijuana was seized during a single traffic stop on I-80, in which the cannabis was transported in a false compartment of a van which was being towed on a semi trailer.
