Illinois Unemployment Rate On The Rise

Troubling Trend Seen in Rockford's Latest Unemployment Numbers_-8997836914771606405

The latest numbers show that Illinois is on a roll when it comes to job growth, but the unemployment rate continues to rise.

The state added 14,700 jobs in March, which means employment is now above the peak that existed before the Great Recession hit in 2008.

More people entering the workforce, however, also pushed up the unemployment rate, now sitting at 6.5%.

One concern for the Stateline is the loss of 3,100 more manufacturing jobs in march.
