Should the Winnebago County Jail be used to house immigrant detainees? A panel Tuesday night of Winnebago County and Rockford officials will answer that question.

Panelists will include Winnebago County Sheriff Gary Caruana, Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara, County Board members Dorothy Redd and Eli Nicolosi and Fred Tsao from the Illinois Coalition of Immigration and Refugee Rights.

The League of Women Voters of Greater Rockford is putting on the event.

It will be held Tuesday, May 23 at 6 p.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church at 412 N. Church Street in Rockford. The cost is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
