15 undocumented immigrants have been placed under arrest in the Rockford area.
Agents from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency, alongside deputies from the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department, conducted the immigration operation.
Each of the 15 people arrested has a criminal conviction. Eight of those are convicted felons. Their convictions include aggravated DUI, aggravated criminal sexual abuse to a victim 13 to 16 years old, mob action, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful sale of firearms.
Winnebago County Sheriff Gary Caruana said, “The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office will work with every agency to aid in good law enforcement and collaboration to make our Winnebago County/Rockford region safe to work and live.”
13 of the arrests were made in Rockford, one was arrested in Loves Park and one arrest was made in Belvidere.
