The Illinois Senate has voted to approve a 32 percent income tax increase on Illinois residents.

It’s amid the pressure of a budget impasse now in its third year. The legislation, which has already passed the House, was approved with 36 yes votes Tuesday morning.

It now heads to Governor Bruce Rauner’s desk. He has said he will veto it.
