The Rockford Park District has hit a construction milestone in the expansion of Sportscore Two, on Riverside.
The final beam was put in place atop the structure that will eventually house a full-sized turf soccer field, which will convert into four smaller fields. The building will be connected to the existing Indoor Sports Center. Officials say the new facility will enhance the Stateline’s reputation as a top sports tourism destination.
“These amazing facilities provide an excellent return on taxpayer investment by contributing to the economic growth of the region, [and] by providing recreational opportunities for our citizens,” said Ian Linnabary, Park District Board President.
Construction is about halfway complete. The expansion is set to open in Summer 2017.
