Investigators: No Working Smoke Detectors Inside Home That Went Up in Flames


Rockford firefighters made quick work of a blaze at 41 Briar Lane, Sunday afternoon. Crews responded around 1:45 p.m., and  extinguished the flames in about 10 minutes.

Investigators say the fire was limited to an upstairs bedroom. No one was hurt, but it did cause $40,000 in damage.

Fire officials say there were no working smoke detectors in the house.
