It’s official, Pro basketball is returning to downtown Rockford


ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — The BMO Harris Bank Center announced Thursday that basketball is coming back to the arena.

On Friday, November 1 for one night only in Rockford the BMO will host a preseason doubleheader featuring four NBA G League teams.

The event begins with a 5PM tip-off with the Windy City Bulls, NBA G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, and facing Iowa Wolves, NBA G League affiliate of the Minnesota Timberwolves. At 7PM, the Sioux Falls Skyforce, NBA G League affiliate of the Miami Heat, face the Wisconsin Herd, NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks.

The games will be played on the newly refinished basketball court featuring Fred VanVleet’s logo. VanVleet is a Rockford native and former player in the NBA G League who now starts for the NBA Champion Toronto Raptors.
The special event is being hosted by the BMO Harris Bank Center, in partnership with the Windy City Bulls, who will be starting their fourth season on November 9 as members of the NBA G League, the official development league of the National Basketball Association.

The Windy City Bulls play their home games at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates and in its first three years, have seen several players make the jump to the NBA level, including Brooklyn star Spencer Dinwiddie, the Golden State Warriors’ Alfonzo McKinnie, and Ryan Arcidiacono with Chicago.
