Jackpot? Illinois Lotto Winners Could Finally Get Their Money Despite Springfield Stalemate

Lotto winners and others could be getting their money soon if lawmakers pass a new bill.

A house committee approved $1.9 billion dollars that authorizes payments including the lottery, motor fuel tax, gaming fund revenue and to statewide 911 call centers.

The money comes from taxes already collected and isn’t a part of the general revenue fund.

“Correct, it’s ridiculous that this money is just sitting in a pile and it should be released to the agencies are involved,” said Rep. Martin Moylan, 55th District.

Lawmakers’ next chance to pass the bill is November 10th when they return to Springfield.
