Variety reports that Walt Disney Pictures has re-hired director James Gunn to direct the third installment in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” series.
Gunn had been fired last year after old tweets that made light of child sexual abuse resurfaced.
The director apologized for the comments, but was let go of the multi-million dollar Marvel movie series by the Walt Disney company.
Gunn had previously written and directed the first two installments of the “Guardians” series.
After his firing from Disney, Gunn signed on to direct “Suicide Squad 2” for rival comics company D.C.
He is expected to begin work on “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” after he completes “Suicide Squad 2.”
