The replacement for House Speaker Paul Ryan may come from the republican’s home town.
Bryan Steil, an attorney from Janesville and member of the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents, announced his bid Sunday to become the next Congressman of the Badger State’s first district.
Many believe Steil is the likely republican front-runner. Despite not having a high public profile, Steil is the first vice chairman on the Rock County Republican board and is well-known to GOP activists in southeastern Wisconsin.
So far, two other candidates have declared their intentions to replace Ryan. Those are Jeremy Ryan and Paul Nehlen. Both men lost to Ryan in previous elections.
The primary is August 14.
