A Janesville man receives his 6th OWI after refusing to identify himself to officers.
Daniel Knutson was pulled over near N. Washington Street and Laurel Avenue around 2:30 Sunday morning for a traffic violation. When police approached his vehicle, they could smell intoxicants.
He refused to identify himself, to perform field sobriety tests or to provide a sample of his blood for testing. A search warrant was obtained for a sample, results are pending.
After positively identifying him, a check of Knutson’s record showed 5 previous convictions for OWI offenses and a reduced legal alcohol limit due to those convictions. He was arrested and charged with his 6th OWI and for operating after revocation.
