Janesville Police is asking for your help to replace one of its K9 officers.

Officer Hardy is retiring next fall after 9 years on the force.  The department set up a GoFundMe account and is asking for $16,000.  Officials say it’s common for departments to raise money for a K9 unit because they’re not usually accounted for in a budget.

The department also said if there’s extra money available, it’ll be used to outfit vehicles for the dogs.  Janesville currently has two dogs on its force.

So far, the department has raised $530.
