Jersey Mike’s Subs holds its ninth-annual Day of Giving on Wednesday when 1,360 locations nationwide donate 100 percent of sales to local charities.
The sub shop expects to generate $6 million in sales. Every sale including subs, chips, drinks and catering orders goes to charities.
Day of Giving is the culmination of the company’s Month of Giving campaign.
Restaurant owners selected charities to donate to. In Rockford, Jersey Mikes’ is donating to the Literacy Council.
“Last year, in the Family Literacy Program, we gave books and talked to children, over 8,000 children, at the Well Child Clinic and Crusader Clinic,” said Sheryl Thogerson, Executive Director of the Literacy Council. “So, it helps with them, those that are, I’d say, well over 5-600 adults that we help each year.”
Last year, Jersey Mike’s raised almost $12,000 for the Literacy Council.
Jersey Mike’s has raised more than $28 million for local charities since 2010.
