Johnsonville has issued a recall for its jalapeno cheddar smoked sausages, officials with the company announced in a press release.

A spokesperson for the the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said approximately 109,603 pounds of the sausages may be contaminated with extraneous materials.

The company received three complaints for pieces of hard, green plastic found in the sausage product. No illness or injuries have been reported from the consumption of the product.

People who have purchased the sausages should throw the products away or return them to the place of purchase.

Fourteen-ounce plastic packages, with six jalapeno cheddar smoked sausages, a best by date of 4/4/2018 and a batch ID of 1001124486 or 1001124487, are subject to the recall.

The products will have the establishment number “EST. 34224” inside the USDA mark of inspection. Company officials said the packages were shipped to retail stores nationwide.
