An Ohio man refused to stop talking during his sentencing, so the judge ordered the man’s mouth taped shut.
It was an unusual sight in a Cuyahoga County courtroom on Tuesday, when Judge John Russo ordered 32-year-old Franklyn Williams mouth shut during his sentencing.
Judge Russo said he gave Williams more than a dozen warnings to stop talking over the course of 30 minutes but Williams refused, even interrupting his own attorney.
Authorities had extradited Williams from Omaha, Nebraska after he cut off his monitoring bracelet and skipped town in the middle of his December trial for armed robbery.
The trial continued without him present. A jury eventually convicted him of aggravated robbery, kidnapping, and theft.
