The manhunt for him lasted ten days. But, Joseph Jakubowski’s trial took barely more than one day.
A federal jury needed just two hours to deliberate and then convict Jakubowski on a charge for stealing guns and silencers from the Armageddon Gun Supplies in Janesville back in April. He even admitted to it on the stand.
Despite that, Jakubowski’s lawyer tries arguing his client should be set free because of a technicality. He said the charge was for stealing from a licensed firearms dealer. But, the gun shop is actually a licensed manufacturer. Jurors, though, didn’t bite.
“That was a waste of a lot of money,” said Juror Richard Virnoche. “The guys says, ‘I’m guilty, I did it.’ His attorney comes up, he said he’s guilty.”
A sentencing hearing’s been scheduled for Dec. 20th. Jakubowski faces up to 20 years in prison.
