Kinzinger, Durbin take aim at President Trump over intelligence remarks flap

News

A pair of Illinois congressmen took aim at President Trump, saying he was wrong to publicly challenge U.S. intelligence agencies about their investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Today, Trump said he misspoke and that he accepts their findings.

Still, both Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R) and Sen. Dick Durbin (D) say the damage has been done.

“I think Trump, President Trump, was wrong yesterday in a major way and I think it was a very embarrassing press conference,” Kinzinger said.

Durbin agreed: “We watched in disbelief as the President not only refused to even acknowledge the act of cyberwar against the United States, but incredibly blamed America first for our poor relationship with Russia.”

Moving forward, Trump says he has full faith and support in U.S. intelligence agencies.
