19-year-old Omar Carreno was arrested on weapons charges that may be connected to a Friday night car-to-car shooting.

Rockford Police say it was around 9:30 a.m. in the 400 block of Napelton Street when a male suspect, who was in a black pick-up truck, was pursuing and firing shots at a maroon car.

Police say no one was hurt in the incident.

On Sunday, April 28th, at 7 p.m., officers located a truck matching the description of the suspect vehicle, near the intersection of Rockton Avenue and Auburn Street, and conducted a traffic stop.

Police say two handguns were recovered from the vehicle.

The 17-year-old male driver was cited and released, and Carreno was arrested and charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapons, Possession of a Weapon by a Gang Member, and no FOID card.

Police believe Carreno and his accomplice were involved in the Friday night shooting.

He was taken to the Winnebago County jail.
