Workers laid off from a Belvidere plant found a unique way to protest when they say they were shortchanged in the final paycheck. The group went to their employer and posted the entire confrontation on Facebook Live.
Bridget Moyer says on the video that more than 250 workers were laid off from their Android Industries plant after the company failed to get a contract with Chrysler. Their last day was December 23rd.
According to Moyer, the severance agreement included a provision to compensate workers for unused vacation time, of which many employees who had worked for Android for more than ten years had accumulated a significant amount. They claim that money was not included in their final checks.
Upset, and saying they were unable to get any company officials to answer their questions, dozens of them appeared at another Android plant asking to speak with management. Instead, Belvidere police were called, and they were escorted out, the entire confrontation recorded on Facebook Live by Moyer.
