Lime, parent company of LimeBike, has gotten so popular across the country, including here in Rockford, that the company is expanding.
Uber has invested more than $300 million in Lime. That, in part, will allow users to rent Lime electric scooters, not currently available in Rockford, through the Uber app. The money will also expand Lime’s operations, developing new technologies and more mobile features to their app.
Lime launched in early 2017 and is now operating in more than 70 cities across the U.S., including Rockford. Last week, Eyewitness News spoke with Lime’s regional operations manager about the company’s impact in Rockford in its first three months here.
“It’s great to see a new program come to the community and kind of help get that community feel, and start interacting with each other,” said Gwen Jones, Operations Manager for Rockford LimeBike.
LimeBikes cost $1 to ride for 30 minutes. The Lime app can be downloaded for free on Android and iPhone.
