Local Author to Donate Portion of Holiday Book Sales to Charities

News

Brian Schachtner is the author of “Cocoa for Santa”.

He wrote the children’s book to help him “find the Christmas spirit again” after losing his dad in 2007 and a close friend in 2015. His young daughter also inspired him to write a story about asking for help.

In “Cocoa for Santa,” Christmas is just a week away and Santa’s problems continue to grow. Mrs. Claus comes to the rescue with a letter, cookies, and of course, cocoa.

Portions of each book sale locally benefit Rockford Rescue Mission, The Jackson Foundation, and then a baby who’s undergone serious medical issues named, Mason. Portions also benefit Toys for Tots, St. Jude’s, Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans, Spinal Muscular Atrophy Foundation, and Cure SMA.
