Some special patients, who have to be in the hospital, got a special gift on Friday as local Girl Scout Troop 1638 dropped off 24 handmade blankets at OSF Saint Anthony’s E.R.
The girls bought the fabric for the blankets with the money they made from cookie sales.
All of the blankets were bright and colorful.
“We wanted to help kids but we were going to donate toys, but instead we thought it would be better to make blankets, because it’s cold outside and everybody gets very cole in winter, so blankets can warm them up,” said Scout Megan Schalrmann.
Troop Leader Marcia Rigney said, “I love that my girls have learned it’s always nice to help, especially kids their own age.”
The girls are in fourth grade at St. Rita. Their hard work also gets each girl a patch.
