Local Girl Scouts Hold Vigil After Wisconsin Scouts Die in Hit-and-Run

News

Girl scouts, past, present, and future honored their lost sisters in a vigil Saturday afternoon.

Rockford girl scouts stood in solidarity, side by side at the Sinnissipi bike path.  Local scouts remembered the three girl scouts and their troop mother who died after being hit by a car in Chippewa County, Wisconsin.  The four were doing service work cleaning the side of the road.  That’s when the driver crossed the center line and into the girl scouts.  Locally, troops felt the pain, as they say incidents like that could’ve happen to them.

“It had a big impact,” said Troop Leader 1659, Stacy Adams.  “Actually that weekend, we were talking about going and volunteering on the side of the road as they were so it definitely hit us hard.”

The driver that struck the scouts turned himself in to authorities.   The 21 year old driver lost control while huffing.   The driver is in custody.
