2nd annual lemonade fundraiser helps Rockford Down syndrome center

Local News

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Gigi’s Playhouse, a Down Syndrome achievement center at 8801 N 2nd St Suite 2 in Rockford, kicked off its second annual Lemonade Days on Friday.

The lemonade stand at Rockford Bank and Trust on Guilford Road allowed donors to buy tasty homemade treats and lemonade, with all profits going to help fund the center.

Organizers say the event demonstrates the Stateline’s giving spirit.

“Rockford is a town that really likes to support its people and its non-profit organizations,” said Bob Stephenson, of the Kiwanis Club of Rockford. “So, what makes us do it? It puts a smile on our face, and hopefully, what we do puts a smile on other people’s faces.”

The lemonade stands will be open again on Saturday.
