Beloit College’s “Powerhouse” project up for architecture award

BELOIT, Wis. (WTVO) — Beloit College’s $38 million student center project is up for another award, and the winner will be chosen by public vote.

The Powerhouse has been named as a finalist in this year’s Architzer A-Plus awards.

The award program promotes and celebrates the world’s best architecture.

Belvidere native Jeanne Gang designed the project. which repurposes the decommissioned Blackhawk Generating Station on the Rock River and will transform it into a 120,000 square foot student center.

Anyone can vote on the Powerhouse by clicking here. Voting ends July 5th.

The Powerhouse is set to open this Fall.
