Man identified in deadly crash on Genoa Road

UPDATE — The Boone County Coroner identified the man killed in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday in Belvidere.

Robert E. Hall, 63-years-old from Belvidere, died of multiple injuries received in the crash.

The Boone County Sheriff’s office says Hall was driving northbound on Genoa Road when another car crossed the center line, smashing into Hall’s vehicle.

No other information has been released at this time.

BELVIDERE, Ill. (WTVO) – One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash that occurred near the 4900 block of Genoa Road in Belvidere. The accident happened around 4:45 p.m.

Boone County Deputy, OSF Lifeline Ambulance, Boone County Fire Protection District #2, and Mercyhealth React Helicopter were all called to the scene.

Preliminary investigation shows that a vehicle traveling southbound on Genoa Road crossed the center line striking another vehicle traveling northbound.   

The driver of the northbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the southbound vehicle was extricated by District #2 Fire and airlifted to Javon Bea Hospital.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.
